| Accessability |
There is new legislation regarding accountability for creating website for those less able. It includes making sure that you have descriptions for your images (alt tags) and a great deal of other standards pertaining to making all content usable for those who have sight, hearing, mobility or other difficulties. There are so many simple things to make the user experience enhanced. Here are a few and please feel free to contact me if you would want a more in-depth discussion. |

| Page Missing Error message in Drupal 6 |
I was doing some work today on Drupal and got an error message saying that Page_form was missing. I was unable to edit any of my pages. First of all panic sets in! How can I scramble to find and answer to my problem...time is ticking! What if I never find and answer will I have to totally re-create the site? I looked on google and got nothing. I calmly read the error messages again and unselected a couple of modules I had recently added - still no luck. I read the error message again and was thinking about forms, but then the obvious one was pages. I looked at the content types and for some unknown reason there was not a page content type. I added one. |

| Setting Expectations |
I think we presume a lot. When working with people I think it is so important to state clearly what you are wanting and in what time frame you are requiring the information. You can then accurately inform people of your deadlines to them. So many times we presume people know things and they sometimes are embarrassed to say that they dont know or dont understand what you are looking for, or why. There are long tried and tested suggestions for giving deadlines and still people say they can get it done quicker than everyone else....this may happen, but I would prefer a deadline that is realistic and attainable in a manner that will give a margin for error correction and allow you to work on the project with less stress and a higher chance of an accurate project completion that is documented and usefull to all. Not one delivered on time, but rushed, untested and prone to re-does that ultimately end up taking more time.

| What is your definition of family? |
We all need help every day to get by. This brings up to me the definition of family and what it means to us. There are so many divorces and remarries, relocations and general disruption I am unsure why we seem determined to emotionally uproot ourselves more. I am one am happy to call step relatives family and embrace them into my fold. |

| Necessary Endings |
It is always hard to make changes. I think we all find change a little disconcerting. I generally love to change things about and embrace new technologies readily but............... I recently made some changes in my personal life and it was very hard. To help me I read a book called Necessary Endings by Henry Cloud. It examines, when relationships are not working, how you can see them for what they are. He puts people into 3 categories: |

| Why cant we all just...get along |
I am sometimes astounded by the lack of communication between people and I am working on getting better. We assume people know what we are feeling, we assume that we understand what others are saying. We really need to make sure before we leave a conversation that people really do understand and we have asked all the questions we need to. I think we sometimes get embarrassed about asking questions in case people think we are somehow deficient. Better to 'get it' and seem deficient along the way than seem really cool and leave clueless. |

| Some great utilities |
I look to buy software programs and sometimes find some excellent ones at not a lot of money. When they are offered for free, but are a very good product, I will buy them. 2 such packages I use a lot are remember the milk, for all my lists online and available wherever there is an internet connection. Dropbox where I can get people to put in their confidential and large files rather than clogging up email or giving them ftp access. |

| Selling |
Its all about selling and making money it seems. We are very sensitive to people trying to sell us things. There is a big distinction which is hard to identify….. Some people are selling you things you dont need and never will need and this selling is to their advantage only Others are selling because they have a service or product that they genuinely think is a good one and you would be better off with their offering. |

| Mistakes |
We all make mistakes, but we live in a society that makes you feel like a failure if you make a mistake. How else do we , in reality, learn? We can learn a lot from books and other people, jut to really get experience you need to ‘do’ and in doing very often dont get it right and happily learn next time how to do it better. |

| Drupal |
Drupal is an open source web applications development tool….so in English you can get , for free, a software package that will allow you to build a simple or sophisticated website application. You can then take this to anyone who knows PHP so you are never stuck with someone else's solution that they have to deal with. |

| Google Analytics |
Oh the joys of Google Analytics. What an amazing free tool and it gives you so much information. I set it up on all of my sites and mail reports out monthly to clients. We sit down and i explain, if necessary, all the parts of the reports and what potentially they mean. It is very interesting. I love the part where you see, all over the world, where your visits are coming from. Technology is an amazing thing…when used for good works. |

| Moving |
Just moved locations and you just forget each time ho much it takes out of you. The same with your website…hand over the chore of updating your website, posting the social media and worrying about how it looks to me. So simple, just pass it all over 416-320-6460. |
